THE ROLE
Our client has an opening for a Segment Manager working within the mechanical engineering/bearing industry. The role is based in Manchester.

The Segment Manager will have Segment responsibility, under the Division Manager Industrial Composites, for the sales & marketing activities of the global markets.

The role will suit a technically minded person because the Segment Manager will also have an integral role in the development of future products, working closely with our R&D team.

DUTIES OF ROLE
-Support the Division Manger Industrial Composites to deliver the Strategic Plan and Vision
-Break-down sales objectives by developing an annual target for regions and territories
-Work closely with other Segment managers and Divisions for the optimal use of the sales team resources
-Responsible for key customer relationship management
-Involvement in contract negotiation with potential OEMs and distributors in new territories
-Support negotiations on price, costs, delivery and specifications with buyers and managers;
-Gaining a clear understanding of customers' businesses and requirements;
-Understand the competitive landscape and recognize niche opportunities in current and new markets
-Attending team meetings and sharing best practice with colleagues.
-Implement customer satisfaction surveys.
-Harmonize local activities with the related External Sales and Segment Management.
-Challenging any objections with a view to getting the customer to buy;
-Contribution/coordination of the promotional activities together with the marketing team
-Coordinate together with the Technical Department, the R&D activities related to the design and creation of new products for the Bearings Segment
-Attend trade exhibitions, events, (and technical committees);
-Drive solution of business issues and ensure that all escalated issues are closed.

EDUCATION/TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
-Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering
-Basic knowledge of popular CRM software
-Language skills are not essential but highly desirable (French, German, Italian, Russian)
-Experience within the mechanical engineering industry is essential.
-A background in sales and/or product management is an asset to this position
