Our client are a medium sized engineering firm who are looking to recruit a production planner to join the team.
Production Planning
Take full responsibility and accountability for the effective and efficient planning of production.
Co-ordinate with the Factory Manager to ensure shift patterns balance work loads in accordance with desired lead time.
Communicate the production lead times daily highlighting any potential variances from the organisational requirements in advance.
Ensure a working understanding of the maintenance cycles / requirements for the major equipment factoring in sufficient time to allow all necessary work to be carried out.
Escalate to the Operations Director any critical incidents that would prevent the required planning service levels to be provided and / or have occurred in production that would impact on the business
Have a detailed understanding of our document control requirements taking the lead in its management
Liaise with the Purchasing Manager on any material shortages updating the production plan and highlighting to Sales of any changes
CAD Duties
Prepare the necessary nest plans are prepared and issued in advance in accordance with the demands of both internal and external customers
Ensure all necessary documentation is readily available to allow the efficient and effective picking of materials
Act as a “quality check” with regards sales order entry input and technical feasibility of designs
Play an active role in the contract review process with the Sales team
Seek to maximise material yield throughout taking into account internal lead times and customer needs
Manage Systems and Quality
Have a detailed working knowledge of all operational processes that ensure the efficient and effective running of the business.
Communicate the appropriate processes and procedures to the team ensuring all staff work in accordance with the same
Maximise the utilisation of SIGMA to manage the business; minimise documentation; increase efficiencies / eradicate waste; provide reports / KPIs for the management team
Work with the Operations Director and Factory Manager to ensure all documentation and processes reflect “reality” and that they are updated to approved changes in working practices
Encourage a process of continuous improvement that is structured and controlled
Develop and manage a set of KPIs for the planning function that captures the efficiency of material usages and the preservation of required lead times.
Contribute to a culture of “Right Product, at the Right Price, at the Right Time, EVERYTIME”
Contribute to Continuous Improvement
Take the lead role in the introduction and implementation of SIGMA V20 in particular the enhanced functionality of any production planning software
Give due consideration to the “as is” and “to be” processes associated with your role.
Challenging current practices, identifying, documenting, communicating and implementing new methods of working on all dimensions of performance
Be an active member of the Operational Continuous Improvement team that will review all our operational activities, setting targets and introducing appropriate measures that will validate any success.
Engage with team members / subcontractors on all Continuous Improvement projects offering your support and ownership on any initiatives where appropriate
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by actively promoting your efforts in this area
Develop Team
Manage and develop Administrative and CAD resources capable of contributing to operational excellence and departmental resilience
Work with the Team in all aspects of daily duties to support a culture of shared goals
Share information with the Team that will foster development in their own activities to contribute to the business goals
Develop and maintain an efficient and effective two way communication process with the Team
