Our client are looking for an experienced Process Development Technologist to join the team.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
•Preparation of laboratory procedures, data cards and work instructions.
•Preparation and testing of metallographic samples for: Plasma Coatings, Braze, EDM, Resistance Weld, Welding / LASER welding, Laser cutting. Makeup of etches and lab solutions.
•Perform routine testing (hardness, alpha case, etc). Electrolytic etching and chemical stripping of production parts.
•Analysing and recording data, technical qualification and failure investigation supported by the production of written laboratory reports.
•Engineering support for materials and special processes.
•Review of production Plannings (job cards) & FAIRs
•Supporting and maintaining business approvals (customer / NADCAP).
•NADCAP & customer audit preparation. Carry out internal quality auditing, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigation and formulation of non-conformance responses.
•Providing technical support and training in special processes.
•Support the introduction of new processes and equipment.
•Customer and supplier liaison on technical issues.
•Perform routine and ad-hoc testing and process monitoring/control (chemical processing, SAT’s, trade effluent) and escalate with key stakeholders where necessary. Perform Tank fills as required.
•Working alongside the purchasing team.
•Perform goods receipt checks and controls for special process consumable
•Implement and maintain a control of goods receipt for chemicals, ensuring a rigorous process is implemented and maintained for the stock control of bulk processing chemicals.
•To support and aid business development for COSHH and health, safety and environmental
•Promote best practice across all working areas through the support of 6S.

Person Specification:
•Academic background in a technical subject Metallurgical or material science an advantage, particularly within the aviation sectors.
•Previous knowledge of heat treatment of metals and furnace control would be an advantage.
•Previous experience of welding (TIG, Resistance, Laser), brazing (Vacuum / Touch), thermal/plasma coatings, non-conventional machining (Laser / EDM) would be an advantage.
•Previous experience of using Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor and control processes.
•Good oral, written and personal communication skills, experience of delivering training would be an advantage.
•Meticulous attention to detail and analytical & problem solving skills (Six Sigma, 8D, A3, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)).
•Personal integrity and good team worker.
•Enthusiastic and committed to making improvements to the Lab (Lean Tools).
•Commitment to implementing and maintaining business improvement initiatives.
•Computer literate – full range of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access).
