Sheet Metal Machine Operative

Our client is a large manufacturing firm who are looking to recruit a production operative to join the team on a permanent basis.

The role will involve :
Key Responsibilities:-
1. To safely operate sheet metal working machinery to its maximum potential and achieve production targets, whilst maintaining the quality of manufactured sheet metal duct fittings.
2. Ensure consistently acceptable quality of products and report any defects to the team leader.
3. General housekeeping, ensuring that the machinery and its adjacent area is kept clean and tidy.
4. To ensure safety guards are in place at all times and be aware of, and comply with, all health and safety requirements.
5. When necessary, help with the picking, packing, and loading of goods to facilitate output.
6. Maintain production/material records.
7. Involvement in company stock taking as necessary.
8. Willing to learn new skills and undertake training as required
9. Any other duties that the Production Manager may request to ensure the smooth running of the factory.

Candidates should be able to evidence:-
1. Previous Production or Warehouse experience. Or demonstrate aptitude/ability to perform Production and Warehouse duties.
2. Excellent attention to detail coupled with the ability to achieve production/delivery targets.
3. Ability to work in a fast-paced repetitive environment.
4. Be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Therefore possessing a good level of written and verbal English.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Ability to work as an effective part of a team.
7. Self-motivated, with a “can do” attitude.
8. A flexible approach to work, providing back up in other departments when required.
9. Excellent time keeping and attendance record.

The hours are Monday to Thursday 8 am to 5 pm and Fridays 8 am to 4 pm with a 30-min unpaid lunch break (41.5-hr week) and salary is up to £23,000 dependent on experience.

In addition to 25-days annual leave in addition to 8-days Statutory Bank Holidays the successful candidate will upon completion of a 12-week probationary period be entitled to join the Company Life Assurance Scheme 4 x basic annual salary and Company Sickness Absence Management Scheme. After 3-months service, they are entitled to join the Company Pension Scheme.
