Our client, based in the Burnley area, are looking to recruit for this key role.
The Role:
To assist in the continuing development of their Nuclear business by providing reliable and accurate costings for existing and for new products prior to adding to the Mainframe system. Analyse and understand engineering processes as a means to identify areas for possible improvement and cost reductions. Ensuring nuclear safety culture is embedded in all decisions.
The Main Tasks of the Role are Outlined Below:-
-To support the project engineers in tendering activities.
-To calculate piece price, tooling and investment costs for current and future products.
-To gather, analyse and collate cost information, including raw materials, sub-contracting, labor, and overheads.
-Monitor and identify cost variances from agreed targets through project life.
-Support the quotation process through from initial inquiry through to our sales department.
-Produce appropriate data to ensure all inquiries are managed efficiently and within agreed timescales.
-To develop knowledge of the Company ’s products and the current manufacturing methods.
-To act as a conduit between various departments build good working relationships within those departments.
-To ensure all security levels are maintained.
The role also includes other duties to maintain the efficient working of the department. The above list of tasks is not exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake duties as may be reasonably expected. All employees are required to be flexible and co-operative in order to assist in meeting business needs.
Scope
It is the responsibility of the Tender/Bid Engineer to develop their knowledge of Company products, manufacturing methods, and engineering processes. Possessing strong abilities to analyse, resolve and implement solutions, the Tender/Bid Engineer will support the team in contributing to continuous improvements.

Knowledge/Experience
-Practical experience in using an MRP manufacturing system.
-Have an understanding of other business areas i.e. purchasing, engineering support, and design.
-Demonstrate problem-solving experience and implementation of successful counter-measures.
-Previous experience of product costing and estimating would be preferable.
-Experience of a new product implementation is desirable.
-Have an understanding of the nuclear context and safety culture.
Qualifications
Time Served Mechanical Engineer.
HNC Mechanical/Production Engineering or equivalent.
