Our client is a global engineering firm who are looking to recruit a press shop supervisor to join the team on a 6/2 shift.

THE ROLE

The production supervisor plans/organises the daily manufacturing in the department and supervises labour so as to maximise utilisation. This position is responsible for analysing production targets, auditing quality, conducting H&S inspections and monitoring housekeeping in the department. The role will also involve performing purchase requisitions, allocating spends to the correct cost centers and account codes. Purchasing will also be performed for consumables on the shop floor. It will also involve requesting maintenance work to be undertaken. Working within a team on departmental process improvement, cost reduction, and technical development projects.

DUTIES OF ROLE
• Work with the Production Planner to create a production plan and to manage the Shift Leaders to ensure that plan is met.
• Investigate and implement ways to increase output to improve departmental labour performance.
• Investigate reasons for lost production and create solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Investigate and implement ways to reduce scrap and improve quality.
• Investigate reasons for scrap and create solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Ensure that operators are following procedures and that the procedures are still valid.
• To carry out quality audits and ensuring that Shift Leaders are carrying out quality checks and relevant paperwork is completed correctly.
• Optimise material usage, recycling or reusing materials wherever possible and minimising waste.
• Ensure that stock levels are accurate and that regular stock takes are implemented.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and create solutions to prevent reoccurrence.
• Assess production operative skills and identify and implement training plans.
• To monitor aspects of health and safety in the department. Carrying out H&S inspections in the department, checking and ensuring that all operatives are trained and maintaining standards.
• To assist sales and technical departments in estimating costing of jobs and arranging the production of samples for the procurement of new business.
• To ensure that departmental housekeeping is maintained to the highest standard through daily audits and follow up of actions.
• Ensure that any machinery issues are reported promptly and arrange downtime for maintenance to be carried out.
• Report daily on performance, quality, and OTO.

EDUCATION/TRAINING & KNOWLEDGE
• 3 plus years' experience in a similar role.
