Role Overview

The purpose of this role is to support the Team Leader with the manufacturing unit in achieving plant operational targets, product quality, customer service and health & safety objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Participate in team activities, utilising appropriate process, technical and engineering skills to achieve manufacturing, quality and service targets
Actively contributes to all team activities aimed at improving plant performance through implementation of continuous improvement, problem solving, team building and personal self-development
Suggest improvements to plant, process and operating procedures
Reacts to process, engineering, quality and safety issues as they arise and utilises the knowledge, experience and skills of own and other team members to initiate corrective action
Operates flexibility and safely within the team carrying out activities under direction of the team leader within area of competence, capability and training
Contributes to initiatives related to improving health and safety performance, taking an active part in risk assessment/hazard identification for all operational activities and taking account of appropriate COMAH regulations
Read and interpret weld procedure specifications written instructions and manufacturing drawings to perform the task at hand
Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Relevant Time Served Qualification in Fabrication or welding OR minimum Level 3 qualification with 3 years experience – Essential
Heavy engineering experience – Essential
Knowledge of Health & Safety and Quality Assurance – Essential
Understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work – Essential
Drawing interpretation including basic tolerances and surface finishing etc. – Essential
Welding ability: MIG/MAG Tig weld, able to work towards Codings for Sub Arc and Flux Core – Essential
Material preparation – grinding, burring, dressing (abrasive wheels) – Essential
Experienced in the fabrication of carbon steel and stainless steel – Essential
Thermal cutting and chamfering (oxy-propane) – Essential
Plasma cutting – Essential
Marking off – for fabrication assembly and machining allowance – Essential
To be able to use basic inspection measuring tools – Essential
Experience with weld procedures and welder qualifications (codings) – Essential
Welding Codes – Essential
